VACANCIES
Community Active Support (CAS) is a registered Charity based in Barking and Dagenham working to promote health, socio-economic and cultural development among the resident African communities in the UK, particularly those from a Francophone background, including refugees and asylum seekers.   We are looking to recruit energetic candidates for the following position:

  1. Post:                            Advice Worker

Salary:                       £26,706 per annum (pro rata)
Hours:                         24h/week (one year fixed term)
Accountable to:     Operations Manager
Responsible for:       As directed. May include Volunteers, or other workers when deputising
Purpose of Job:        To respond to requests for help from members of the public and assists  clients by providing , effective and confidential information, advice and guidance support and advocacy on a wide range of issues affecting the community. Ability to speak the French language will be desirable.
A minimum qualification of NVQ2 in Advice and Guidance and 2 years experience in Advice Work will be required. This post is subject to a CRB check.

  1. Post:                            Community Youth Worker

Salary:                       £17,442 per annum (pro rata)
Hours:                         16h/week (one year fixed term)
Accountable to:     Operations Manager
Responsible for:       Volunteers and other as directed
Purpose of Job:        Delivery and Management of the Children and Youth programmes, Outreach activities, Administration and Contributing to CAS overall Programmes Development
A minimum 2 years experience in youth work will be required. This post is subject to a CRB checks and will involve some weekend working, especially during holidays and School’s terms.

CAS uses Volunteers and Sessional Workers for the bulk of its projects and activities. It also recognises the lack of experience and skills within the community and the need of volunteering in order to acquire skills, knowledge and experience and use these potential for the development and delivery of its services. As a result, CAS ensures that Volunteers are trained to the standard whereby services are delivered effectively and efficiently.

Volunteers go through an induction and a compulsory programme covering areas such as:
• Communication and general office skills
• Client/services users care skills
• Health and safety,
• Equal opportunity and good practice
• Confidentiality
• Effective call handling and listening skills
• Many more skills corresponding to individual area of interest
• Volunteers are all CRB checked
